While I wholeheartedly agree with Matisse I have struggled with this idea my entire life! I have not become fearless but each day I take more ground in this area, the fact that this website is up shows I am in the battle!
My name is Andrea Haughian I am a self taught, Métis, and Canadian artist. The wife of my best friend, a mother to 3 awesome children, and a grandmother!
As an artist I believe there is beauty in all things, I accredit that to something God has placed within me. As a child my mother always encouraged me to paint but life happened and painting got put aside for a long while. In recent years I’ve rediscovered the joy in creating and made time for art regularly. It’s been through encouragement, practice and more encouragement from family, friends and collectors I’ve been able to do what comes natural to me, to use my gifts to hopefully bring beauty and joy into peoples homes and lives.
I create art with all types of media, predominantly acrylics but layering being a staple for every piece I create. Almost every piece starts as an abstract. From there I often intuitively paint, which is a scary and joyful part that I have come to love and embrace as an integral part of my process.
